Article 40 of the GDPR refers to industry codes of conduct for the protection of personal data that facilitate the implementation and application of the regulation in a company in a given industry. The aim of this project is to analyse how personal data is processed in the translation industry, taking into account typical solutions and workflows applied by LSPs, in order to identify common problems and develop guidelines. The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to enhance the appropriate application of the GDPR in terms of transparency of personal data processing, legitimate interests of data controllers, data collection and protection, procedures for dealing with data breaches, and making personal data available to third countries. We hope to have the Code approved and published by the Office for Personal Data Protection in Poland. The project is being developed in collaboration with industry organisations from other EU countries, translators organisations and data protection specialists.
